My Youngest Son’s Konus Refractor

This telescope was a Christmas Present for my youngest son.  The original plastic finder scope was removed.  It was useless.  A Red Dot finder was added making the scope easier to use.  The long focal length adequately controls the amount of chromatic aberration detectable.  Views of the moon are pleasing.  It also gives good views of  larger star clusters.

I purchased this mount of Ebay.  I call it a EQ-1 variant.  It is as robust as an E-Q2 and is extremely well constructed.  It does not have latitude adjustment bolts.  It is adjustable and locks down securely.  It did not come with a RA motor.  I believe a standard EQ-1 self contained motor could be utilized.  The wood tripod makes this mount very stable.  I am in the process of refinishing the tripod.
